The 21st Annual Bay Shore – Brightwaters Community Summit

The 21st Annual Bay Shore – Brightwaters Community Summit, “Celebrating Our Diversity,” will be held tonight, May 7, 2015, at the Bay Shore High School. The front doors will open at 6:30 p.m. and the program will begin promptly at 7:00 p.m. in the auditorium. This year’s opening session will feature a keynote address from Islip Town Supervisor Angie M. Carpenter, student performances, and the announcement of our student diversity contest winners. Following the opening session, attendees will have the opportunity to participate in 1 of 3 breakout sessions – Downtown Update, Education Update, Neighborhood Concerns.
At the conclusion of the breakout sessions, the Community Expo and our fabulous “Taste of Bay Shore”will open. A sampling of foods from local restaurants, delis, and a variety of local food establishments will be available. In lieu of a charge for this sampling, Bay Shore Schools requests that you bring a non-perishable food item which will be donated to our local food pantry. Tickets for the Taste of Bay Shore will be available at the conclusion of each breakout session. Additionally, raffles prizes will be available at the Community Expo, be sure to get your tickets!

While attending the Summit, don’t forget to visit the I Am Bay Shore wall in the Community Expo and add your family’s countries of origin to the collage. Our Multimedia Lab will be open, please stop in and record a reflection on what diversity means to you and how you celebrate it in your life.

Parking will be available at Fifth Avenue School, starting at 6 p.m. Complimentary shuttles provided by Suffolk Transportation will be running every 5 minutes between Fifth Avenue School and the High School. Handicapped parking will be available in the front circle of the High School; there will be security guards available if you require any assistance. Free babysitting will be available.
