Jean Geyer

December 12, 1939~March 16, 2025

We are deeply saddened to share the passing of our beloved colleague, friend and a co-founder of BSWA – Jean. Her dedication, kindness, and unwavering spirit touched us all. She will be profoundly missed both professionally and personally. Our thoughts are with Jean’s family during this difficult time. May she rest in peace and be remembered always.

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Jean Geyer, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, cousin, and friend, who passed away on March 16, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. Jean was 85 years old.

Jean was born to Nicholas Benedetto and Margaret (Guzzardo) Benedetto in Brooklyn, New York and lived the majority of her life as a New Yorker before retiring to Naples, Florida. Her life was a testament to love, warmth, and dedication, and she was cherished by everyone who knew her.

As a mother, Jean was loving, caring, and incredibly supportive. She was an inspiration to all who met her, always finding the good in people and in life. She had an extraordinary ability to uplift others with her genuine kindness and infectious optimism. Family was the heart of Jean’s world. She loved nothing more than gathering her family for holidays, Sunday dinners, and weekend BBQs, where she would light up the room with her smile, laughter and stories.

Jean was a dedicated professional, having taught for over 40 years in Bay Shore public schools. Her influence did not end in the classroom, as she continued her passion for education in retirement as a beloved professor at Adelphi University. She inspired countless students throughout her career, shaping lives and encouraging others to strive for excellence.

Beyond her professional life, Jean had a deep love for dance and theater. She could often be found visiting NYC to take in a Broadway show, embracing the magic of the arts that brought her so much joy. Anyone who knew her will remember her endless love of Frank Sinatra, her collection of albums and memorabilia,  which could possibly be the largest of anyone. Jean’s zest for life and caring spirit made her unforgettable.

Jean is survived by her devoted husband, Andrew Geyer; her children, Andrew H. Geyer, Jeanne (Geyer) Taylor, and Robert Nicholas Geyer; her grandchildren, Zachary Robert Taylor and wife Jessica, Lindsay Taylor Barry and husband Nate, KayLeigh Geyer, Madison Geyer, and Brooke Geyer; and her great-grandchildren, Gwynneth Taylor, Everleigh Geyer, and a third great-grandchild on the way.

Jean will be deeply missed by all who knew her, but her legacy of love, kindness, and generosity will live on forever in the hearts of her family and friends.

A family service will be held on March 18, 2025, at 10:30 AM at Naples Funeral Home, 3107 Davis Blvd, Naples, Florida. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the National Kidney Foundation (NKF) or The Bladder Cancer Advocacy Network (BCAN).
