4th Annual Color Splash Fun Run, Splashed!

Can you say ‘deja vu’?

It seems to us that each year, we go through the exact same suspenseful week looking at the weather and hope for the sun! Last year, two years and four years ago the weather was not cooperating with our plans.  All week long the forecast looked very poor for our Color Splash Fun Run for Saturday, May 19th. Eventually we had to reschedule it for Sunday May 20th.  Weather.com was warning of possible showers and scattered thunderstorms around 4 PM. Luckily, the weather was kind to us!

Over 60 participants, from grades K through 12, participated and the weather proved sufficient for what we needed! Actually, Mr. Borkowski and Mrs. Peterson have sunburns! Our Bay Shore students certainly displayed much enthusiasm as they circled the Bay Shore Marina with their white shirts splashed with many colors. This event had no winners or prizes, but runners were showered with colored powder at six stations along the run. It was awesome!

We would like to thank the members of the Bay Shore Wellness Alliance who dedicated their time and energy to make the Color Splash Fun Run possible. Special thanks to Mr. Joe Bond, Mr. Bob Panariello, Mr. Ted Nagengast, Mrs. Mary Drago and her awesome Athletes Helping Athletes, Bay Shore Athletic Sponsors Along with Legislator Steven J. Flotteron, Town of Islip, Good Samaritan Hospital, the Great South Bay YMCA, the Bay Shore Fire Department, the Bay Shore Brightwaters Rescue Ambulance, Suffolk Transportation, the Administration and the Board of Education for Bay Shore Schools for their continued support of our mission statement.
