Honoring a Legacy

(From L-R. Chairperson of Bay Shore Athletics Sponsors Mr. Charlie Flood, Superintendent of Bay Shore Schools Mr. Joseph Bond, Dr. V. William Caracci, Athletic Director Mr. Bob Panariello and Chair of Athletics Mr. Ted Nagengast.)

Over the weekend, Bay Shore lost Dr. V. William Caracci.

Dr. Caracci was a tireless advocate for wellness. He was the founder of the Bay Shore Wellness Alliance, a group that sought to spur the community to be physically active. He was also the catalyst for the creation and expansion of wellness centers in our schools, as well as other facilities for physical education.

Dr. Caracci graduated from Georgetown University School of Medicine and then began his medical career. Among his many accomplishments was being the Founder and Chief of the Cardiology Department at Good Samaritan Hospital.

Above all else, Dr. Caracci never stopped trying to find ways to serve those around him and improve the community. He was a true inspiration and we can all learn from his example.

My heartfelt condolences go out to Dr. Caracci’s family and friends.
